Phonics Reading Leader Workshops

  • Session one: Tuesday 14th June 2022, 4pm -5.30pm
  • Session two: Tuesday 28th June 2022, 4pm -5.30pm
  • Session three: Tuesday 27th September 2022, 4pm -5.30pm
  • Session four: Tuesday 11th October 2022, 4pm -5.30pm

Cost: Free (funded by the Department for Education) Attendees should attend all sessions. Workshops will run remotely on Zoom. This four-part free CPD will be an opportunity for Reading Leaders to plan for the upcoming school year with growing confidence and expertise.

Session one

In session one, participants will ‘map out’ the year ahead, reflecting on their school’s particular context, key assessment points, groupings and intervention. Participants will use data effectively to organise groups.

Session two

In session two, participants will be given the opportunity to discuss and review their action plan to take into account CPD and plan interventions. The session will then focus on the short-term plan for Autumn Term to support participants with prioritising key actions to ensure a successful start to the year.

Session three

How to set up and deliver practice sessions for your Reading Teachers.

Session four

How to set up monitoring and one-to-one provision.

The sessions will be facilitated by Springhill and Kingsnorth English Hubs.

Who should attend?

Headteachers and reading or phonics leaders or English leaders with an interest in ensuring effective leadership of Phonics in their school. A maximum of two members of staff per school may attend.
