CPD & Leadership

Teaching is a learning profession. Our comprehensive offer of continuing professional development (CPD) supports teachers in developing classroom expertise throughout their career, from the early stages of Initial Teacher Training through to expert Chartered Teacher status. Our CPD offer incorporates the five areas of practice set out in the Early Career Framework: pedagogy, curriculum, assessment, behaviour and professional behaviours; all elements fundamental to high quality teaching.

We understand that school leadership is fundamental to the quality of education pupils receive and the outcomes they achieve. Our leadership curriculum supports aspiring leaders and leaders in a range of roles within and across schools.  Our CPD offer provides development for leaders throughout their career so that they have the skills and support they need to fulfil their role to the highest standard, while maintaining a sense of wellbeing.

As partners in the East Sussex system we share the vision of creating excellence in education and the collective responsibility to improve outcomes for all learners. Our CPD is offered to schools and colleges in all phases and sectors to support them in developing the skills and expertise required to provide high quality education for all children. Our CPD offer extends to governors, school support staff and administrative staff who all play a hugely important role in children’s educational experiences and the outcomes they achieve.

We recognise the need to exercise our professional judgement to determine which CPD is most appropriate and likely to achieve the desired impacts. We have therefore created a short Guide to Developing Effective CPD in Schools.
